Obamicon
With less than 2 days before Barak Obama is sworn in as our new president, I thought it would be a great time to post my Obamicon. Many at http://obamiconme.pastemagazine.com/are a tribute to him and his ideals. Many are frivolous. Mine is what I hope the future will bring for our children, especially my grandchildren. I believe it is time to put children first and put our money into education. Without education we are lost. So, this is my tribute to Obama, educations, and new beginnings!Another big thank you to Katiefeldmom, my daughter-in-law, for finding this fun site!

I just had the most wonderful experience a grandmother can have, except for the day he was born. We just returned from Disneyland to celebrate my grandson's 5th birthday. What a wonderful time we had. One highlight was having lunch at Ariel's Grotto Restaurant. We met many Disney characters. They were all princesses but, they all were very sweet to Brian. Above is a picture of Brian with Ariel. What a picture!

Solar System Lessons
Last week I went to Pasadena to review our Solar System lessons with the people at JPL. Things went very well. The only change for our primary team is to embed the journals into each lesson, not just indicate that the journals should be done with each lesson. That is a pretty quick fix. They loved the lessons and loved the readers for each lesson. As we looked at the lessons, I realized that this is a huge piece of work that we created. The graphic guy said to me, "I could never organize something like this. How did you do it?" I told him, "I have no idea! It just seemed to happen over a long period of time."
The other thing that was said that I didn't know how to take, at first, turns out to be a complement. One of the JPL team members told me, "You are the Klingon in the group." I asked him what that means. He said, "You think like a Klingon. You have the ability to think in three dimensions." Coming from a NASA person, I think that is a complement. He said it shows in the kinds of ideas I come up with.
It feels good to be close to the end. The lessons will be on a NASA website and distributed via CD. We also found out that our Cassinis lessons are being put on CD as well. They will be ready for distribution by the time we go to Boston in March for NSTA.

Back at Blogging
It has been sometime since I have made an entry, if you can call the stress reliever an entry. I have been busy with a new granddaughter, a wonderful grandson, and school. I have not been busy watching what I eat! I am afraid the holidays did me in. Now for the hard part. I need to get on a healthy diet that does not include sugar, potatoes, rice, white flour, and plain bread. I have come to the conclusion that complete low carb is not good. However, modified low carb plus fruits and vegetables are the way to go. Even if I don't lose weight, I think I will be healthier. And at my age, healthy is a good thing. I will try to add entries two or three times a week. That might help as well.

Day 21
I have only one thing to say. State Fair! Corn on the cob, BBQ Beef sandwich with the bread, and of course, the ever so popular funnel cake. Actually, 1/2 of a funnel cake. Yes, I indulged. Was it worth it? I don't know yet. We had a great time watching our 4 year old grandson on rides and seeing how he can overcome his fears and go for it. What a kid.
