Slow Weekend!
Jim came home from Austin, Texas yesterday. We have had a quiet weekend together. This morning we went to breakfast with friends. That was nice. Then, Jim went to GolfSmith and I went across the street to the teachers store. Yes, I bought even more things for my classroom. Bulletin board stuff and a book of graphic organizers for my students. I am anxious to get to school tomorrow and finish my classroom. I am hoping to have my room done so that I can help my friend, Nancy, with her classroom on Friday. She was at 2nd grade last year and has been moved to a 5th/6th combination class for this year. It was move or go to another school. I want to support her as much as I can. This will be her fifth year teaching. She went from 2nd at our school to 1st at a school in Oakland, then back to our school for two years of 2nd. Now they toss her into 5th/6th. Where is the sense in that? I know she will do a great job with her class. She is a very good teacher.
I worked on the leveled reader for our Solar System unit today. At least I have a start on it. These things take so much time to create and refine and modify, etc. Sometimes I am surprised we get anything to completion.
